UWI Debe Campus ready to receive returning nationals from Suriname


The South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) has announced the commissioning of a second facility in the parallel healthcare system for COVID-19, in the region, the University of the West Indies (UWI) South-Debe Campus.

In a statement, it said the facility will receive patients from Friday.

Several Trinidad and Tobago nationals in Suriname are expected to return to the country on Friday morning.

They will be quarantined at the Campus for at least a 14-day period.

The SWRHA said facility has a 94 bed capacity, providing accommodation to aide in their stay, under the care of healthcare professionals.

It said the management and coordination of the facility will be done by the SWRHA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders, such as the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF).
